Tasmanian artist Jamin has recently completed his latest mural titled ‘Water aka Liquid Gold’ in Geeveston.

The mural, inspired by a photograph of the famous Hobart Rivulet platypus named Jeffrey, is proudly displayed on the wall of Pure Mist Water & Gin.

“My goal for this painting was to meld the platypus, rocks and water into one body… Or at least to have them visually ‘speak’ to each other, as with the animals and mist in the mural outside,” Jamin said.

“I’ve also tried to avoid black and white in these paintings, as a challenge.”

The mural is the latest addition to Jamin’s body of work and sits alongside a 140m squared mural of mists and forests at Pure Mist.

Jamin says he tried to capture “a few of Tasmania‘s unique inhabitants… the Tasmanian Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, the Tasmanian Devil and the Tasmanian Tiger” in the artwork.

“The Mist in the painting is being shared by the trees, the animals and the viewer.”
