A Tasmanian dad and former Navy chef will brave the subzero conditions of the Arctic Circle when he features in the new season of SBS survival series Alone Australia.
Trent, 39, is one of 10 contestants dropped deep into the wilderness of Finland, where they must survive completely alone for as long as they can last.
A $250,000 prize is on the line for the last person standing.
Trent lives on a near self-sufficient property in Tasmania and regularly puts himself through gruelling solo survival challenges in the state’s rugged bush.
His love of the outdoors began after a childhood move from the city to the Tasmanian countryside, which sparked a lifelong passion for bushcraft.

Trent is largely self-taught when it comes to survival skills.
He uses his garage as a workshop, building handmade fishing rods and refining construction techniques from raw materials.
Fishing is his biggest strength in the wild and he said he will rely on his angling ability to keep his energy up when food is scarce.
“I don’t know how realistic this goal is, but I’d love to get to 101 days,” he said.
“And I believe if there’s fish in that lake and I’m catching them and I’ve got food … then I can definitely last 100 days.”

The Navy veteran said his time as a chef taught him to push through relentless physical hardship, including seasickness, with a sense of humour and sheer stubbornness.
But his motivation for entering the competition is not just about adventure.
Trent wants to show his children that hard work and determination can achieve any goal.
The prize money would go straight to paying off the family mortgage, freeing him up to focus on making memories with his wife and kids.

Alone Australia season four premieres with a double episode on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30pm on SBS.
