Tasmania’s gin industry is set to take center stage this weekend, as Gin-uary comes to Hobart’s Princes Wharf 1.
The event, now in its fourth year, is a celebration of Tasmania’s thriving gin scene and a chance for local distillers to showcase their wares to a national audience.
Dozens of Tasmanian gin distilleries will be featured at the event, including Midlands grown & East Coast distilled Waverley Distillery.

The Waverley brand originates from the property “Waverley” near Oatlands, which was purchased in 1878 by Sir J.W. Agnew, the impending Premier of Tasmania, for his son Mr. C.S. Agnew.
Their small-batch Assyrian Rhubarb Gin is a particular highlight and is steeped in the rich history of the Agnew family.
The gin is named after the horse stud that was started on the Waverley property by Mr. C.S. Agnew. The stud was highly successful, with the horse “The Assyrian” winning the Melbourne Cup in 1882. The Assyrian is buried on the property in the paddock where the rhubarb for the Waverley Gin is grown.

Gin-uary is not just about showcasing the gin industry, it’s also a fun event for everyone to enjoy. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about what makes each gin unique, sample the wares, and enjoy delicious food and cocktails. For those who may not be gin fans, the event will also feature other beverage options.
The event will take place on January 14th-15th and is the perfect opportunity for locals and tourists alike to experience the best of Tasmanian gin and to support the local distillers, and tickets are available online.
