After weeks of operating at COVID Escalation Management Level 3, the Royal Hobart Hospital and Launceston General Hospital have finally de-escalated to Level 2.

The level change means visitor restrictions at our two biggest public hospitals have also been eased.

Two visitors per patient are now allowed at the RHH and the LGH, however visits are only permitted between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Visitors will only be able to stay for an hour at the LGH, with the same restrictions also applying to the Mercy Community Hospital and the North West Regional Hospital.

The Department of Health is praising the hard work and dedication of all staff at the RHH and LGH for ensuring the safe delivery of services to the Tasmanian community during the holiday season.

The public is also thanked for their support in considering alternatives to Emergency Departments (EDs) during this time.
