A Tasmanian man who led police on a 200km/h+ high-speed chase on the Midland Highway has been charged.
The 30-year-old motorcyclist from Dromedary allegedly evaded officers on Saturday, reaching speeds of over 200km/h, before abandoning his yellow Yamaha R6 in Perth.
Police say the chase started around 11am when officers observed the motorcycle travelling north at high speed near Oatlands.
“Upon attempting to intercept the motorcycle, police will allege the rider evaded police and continued driving in a dangerous manner,” a spokesperson said.
The motorcycle was located at Perth after being abandoned by the driver, with the rider later found and arrested by Police.
He now faces charges of dangerous driving, evading police and driving while disqualified, with further charges expected as investigations continue.
The man has been bailed and is due to appear before the Hobart Magistrates court at a later date.
