A Hobart man is embarking on a massive challenge to celebrate 10 years of Tasmanian mental health charity Stay ChatTY.
Ben Hirst has set out to run twice the height of Mount Everest by spending the next week jogging up kunanyi/Mt Wellington over 21 times.
Hirst will cover a distance of 66 kilometers each day, pushing his physical and mental endurance to the limits.
Starting each day at 7am, Hirst will spend 11 hours running up and down the mountain before finishing up at 6pm.

“Generally, each climb and descent will take up to 3 hours,” Hirst said.
“This duration will increase as I become more fatigued.”
The total run will see him reach a combined elevation of 17,698m and a total distance of 435km.
People are being encouraged to contribute to Ben’s fundraiser to help him reach his goal of $10,000 for Stay ChatTY.
