A mum has been left horrified after she says her son found a dirty band-aid in the fries they had purchased from their local McDonald’s store.
Tasmanian woman Kylie Langerak treated her kids to a takeaway dinner on Saturday, spending nearly $100 at the Ulverstone fast-food outlet.
But she was left “disgusted” when she got home and found the unexpected item in the food.
“[My] little one was eating fries and next thing throws a band-aid at me from his chips,” she said.
After returning to the store to complain, she said the manager “was clueless” and offered free fries as compensation.
Langerak, unsatisfied with the response, said she will be “taking this higher”.
A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson told Pulse the company is investigating the incident.
“McDonald’s takes food safety and hygiene extremely seriously and every restaurant is required to follow our strict processes and procedures,” the spokesperson said.
“We are investigating this with the restaurant directly and have reinforced our processes and procedures regarding food preparation, safety and hygiene.”
McDonald’s said they have contacted the customer to apologise and offer a refund.
