A Tasmanian police constable has been charged with burglary and stealing and common assault following an incident this morning.
The 39-year-old officer from southern Tasmania was off duty at the time.

A police spokesperson said the charges came out of an investigation by Tasmania Police’s Professional Standards Command.
The spokesperson provided no details of the alleged incident.
The constable has been stood down immediately.
They are set to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on August 10.
Tasmania Police said “it is not appropriate to make any further comment given the matters are now before the court”.
