A lone sailor was rescued from his yacht near Eddystone Point on Wednesday evening after suffering a serious injury.
The man was struck in the head by the yacht’s boom, according to Tasmania Police.
Police said the incident occurred around 2:30pm on Wednesday while the man was sailing solo from George Town to Hobart.
A distress call was made to Tas Maritime Radio, prompting a response from police and paramedics.

A paramedic boarded the St Helens Volunteer Marine Rescue vessel alongside police officers and provided treatment to the man onboard the yacht.
The yacht was escorted to Binalong Bay by police, where the injured man was transferred to shore around 9pm and taken to the St Helens District Hospital for assessment.
Police thanked the members of St Helens Volunteer Marine Rescue for their assistance “during difficult sailing conditions”.
