The latest data from the RSPCA has revealed the Tasmanian suburbs with the highest numbers of animal cruelty reports.
According to the organisation, in the past financial year Glenorchy, Devonport and Ulverstone had the highest number of animal welfare incidents.
Over the 12-month period, 2,167 calls were made to the RSPCA hotline, up 149 on the previous period.
The RSPCA issued 113 notices and sent 65 warning letters in response to reported incidents.
Seven individuals are facing a total of 85 charges related to animal cruelty, while nine animal cruelty cases were finalised in court during the reporting period.
Most of the reported cases were related to owners not providing adequate care to their animals, such as failure to feed or care for the animals.
Glenorchy topped the list of suburbs with the highest number of animal cruelty calls (43), followed by Devonport (30).
The data showed that calls for animal cruelty were more commonly coming from lower socio-economic areas.
