The case was heard by Victorian Deputy Chief Magistrate Susan Wakeling after it was determined that no Tasmanian magistrate could preside over the proceedings.

Geason has been suspended from his role on the Supreme Court bench since the allegations surfaced.

His defence counsel told the court on Tuesday that the judge would be stepping down from his position shortly.
