20-year-old Tasmanian swimmer Max Giulani is hoping to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games next year after winning the USA pro-championship 100m and 200m freestyle titles in California last week.

Giuliani broke his personal best times for both events, finishing with times of 48.21s and 1m 46.23s.

He was part of the Australia A team, which includes swimmers who narrowly missed out on selection for the Dolphins team at the world championships.

The Tasmanian credits his success to his sports psychologist, John Novack, who he said has made a significant impact on his performance.

Giuliani will now take a break before resuming training and planning his schedule for the rest of the year, with the goal of qualifying for the Paris Olympics.
