They have been bringing shows to Hobart for over a decade, but after their recent application for government funding was denied, the curtain may be closing on the Blue Cow Theatre Company for the final time.

The Blue Cow Board say an “unsuccessful” recent attempt at securing funding has led them to decide not to reapply “for any” more funding down the track.

“We have worked diligently to develop a strong strategic direction for our company to support Tasmanian theatre makers and stories,” the board said.

“However, without secure government support, professional theatre is extremely difficult.”

“Due to good governance and financial management we are in a position where we have choices on how we can appropriately celebrate our legacy.”
