Tasmania’s chief thoroughbred steward has been dismissed following an investigation into “conduct-related matters”.
Tasracing terminated the employment of the senior racing official on Monday.
It is understood the steward was stood down on September 21, just days after starting in the role on September 15.
But neither the organisation nor the state’s racing watchdog has disclosed what the steward did wrong.
Racing Integrity Commissioner Sean Carroll confirmed he had been advised of the dismissal on Tuesday.

His office said called the conduct “disappointing” but that the commissioner was “satisfied with the manner in which Tasracing has managed the situation since becoming aware of the allegations”.
Tasracing stood the steward down while it conducted its investigation.
Carroll used the incident to reinforce his expectations for the industry.
“As I have previously remarked, the Tasmanian racing industry has entered a new era where the highest benchmark of integrity will be the foundation of the industry’s future success,” he said.
“It is essential that those entrusted to oversee and govern the industry, as well as participants, demonstrate these high standards and that where these standards fall short, action will be taken.”
