Four cheeky Bolivian squirrel monkeys have arrived at their new home at Tasmania’s Zoodoo Zoo this week.
Tasmania’s first Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys, Tito (6), Carlos (9), Enzo (7), and Leo (6) have made the move from Melbourne Zoo and are now settling into their upgraded enclosure at Zoodoo Zoo.
“The arrival of Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys to Zoodoo will provide opportunities for the Tasmanian Community and tourists to gain an appreciation of these brightly colourful intelligent monkeys that otherwise could only be experienced by travelling to the mainland or overseas,” the Zoo said.
“Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys live in tropical rainforests and spend most of their time in the lower canopy and understory.”

“Females live in large stable groups and remain with the group that they were born into. Males disperse and form bachelor groups at about 4-5 years old.”
“Groups can sometimes be as large as 200 animals.”
The new inhabitants are now on display at Zoodoo Zoo, ready for visitors to learn about the magnificent species.
