The Jacqui Lambie Network (JLN) has been accused of breaking a promise to deliver transparency and accountability after its state MPs remained silent following calls for the resignation of the Deputy Premier.
Senator Jacqui Lambie on Thursday called for Michael Ferguson’s resignation, labelling him ‘incompetent and ineffective’.
She also accused the Minister of sacking the TT-Line chair to keep the truth about the ‘Spirits scandal’ hidden from Tasmanians.
The JLN’s three state MPs, Miriam Beswick, Rebekah Pentland and Andrew Jenner. have so far refused to back their leader’s calls or publicly state whether they support Ferguson.
Labor’s Josh Willie said the silence is a “massive broken promise” from the party.
“Senator Lambie couldn’t have been clearer … What have we seen in the three days since from her three state MPs? Silence,” he said.
“The Jacqui Lambie Network MPs are refusing to say whether they back their leader’s calls for accountability or whether they back Michael Ferguson.”
Willie said the JLN are “not being transparent about where they stand” and have so far refused to back their leader’s “demands” for accountability.
A spokesperson for the JLN said Labor should spend less time ‘obsessing’ over the network and more time proposing an alternative vision for Tasmania.
