Tasmania’s new cabinet and health minister Guy Barnett sworn in

Tasmania’s Governor Barbara Baker has officially sworn in the states new Ministerial Cabinet at a ceremony at Hobart’s Government House afternoon.

Guy Barnett is now Tasmania’s Health Minister, replacing Premier Jeremy Rockliff who stepped down from the position last week.

Nic Street has taken on Housing and Construction as well as Stadia and Events, while Jo Palmer will handle Community Services and Development portfolio, previously held by Mr Street.

Former Racing Minister Madeleine Ogilvie will now serve as the Minister for Women and the Prevention of Family Violence.

The racing portfolio will be taken over by Minister for Police, Fire, and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis.

This is the fifth cabinet reshuffle since the 2021 state election, with no new MPs promoted to cabinet positions.

Premier Rockliff will retain his role overseeing the Mental Health and Wellbeing ministry.
