A Tasmanian beach has been closed and authorities are on the lookout for sharks after a teenager suffered a wound to her leg while swimming this afternoon.
Buttons Beach in Northern Tasmania remains closed “as a precaution”, with police asking people to stay away until the area is deemed safe following the incident.
They say while a shark attack hasn’t been ruled out at this stage, no sharks have been, as of yet, sighted in the area.
The teen is currently at the Launceston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
