Tassie driver spiked near Bridgewater

A 23-year-old man from Richmond, Tasmania has been charged with driving, drug, and firearms offences after a dangerous driving incident on Wednesday night.

The police received reports of a vehicle being driven dangerously on Sixth Avenue in New Norfolk.

They coordinated a response and were able to spike the vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, on Boyer Road at Bridgewater.

The car was later found abandoned in Pontville Cemetery, where police discovered ammunition and a significant amount of drugs suspected to be ice.

The man was subsequently located and arrested.

He has been charged with Aggravated Evade, Dangerous Driving, Stealing, Possession of a loaded firearm, and other firearms and drug offences.

Police have also found additional firearms and drugs as part of their ongoing investigation.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today
