A man is presumed to have drowned after a boating incident in Tasmania’s Central Highlands this afternoon.
Police believe the 50-year-old Sheffield man was taking a break ashore while on a solo fishing expedition, when his boat floated away and appears to have swum out to the vessel in an attempt to retrieve it.

The boat has been located and returned to shore, however police believe the man has likely drowned.
The search has been scaled back for the night, and will continue at first light tomorrow.
