A Tasmanian man is preparing to embark on an 82-kilometer walk from Launceston to Latrobe today in honor of his grandfather and Vietnam veteran, Rodney Sheehan.
Jacob Morris, 23, will start his grueling journey at 6am on ANZAC Day to raise funds for the disease that took his grandfather’s life two years ago.
Speaking to 7 Tasmania News, Morris said he has fond memories of marching with his grandfather each year in the Anzac Day parade.
However, since Sheehan’s passing, Morris has not found the strength to participate in the march.

“Every year, I’d go up to the tribes and says about eight or nine and marched with him in the exact day parade and ever since he passed away, I just haven’t brought myself to go and do it”.
Morris will walk from the Launceston Dawn service to the Latrobe Cenotaph, where he will pay his respects to his grandfather and other fallen veterans.
He also hopes to raise awareness and funds for cancer, the disease that took his grandfather’s life.
