Tassie Wine Crowned World’s Best

Tasmania’s own Tolpuddle Vineyard’s 2021 Chardonnay has just been named White Wine of the Year by UK-based wine magazine, Decanter.

The prestigious award recognizes the ‘high quality and unique flavor’ of the Chardonnay, which is produced in Tassie’s Coal Valley, a region known for its distinctive climate and soil.

According to Tolpuddle Chief Winemaker Adam Wadewitz, the key to crafting a delicious Chardonnay is a ‘combination of intensity, natural acidity, and balance’. And it looks like he’s mastered this formula, as the Wine Magazine also awarded the 2021 Chardonnay a perfect score of 100 and named Wadewitz “Winemaker of the Year.”

Wadewitz said it’s exciting to see Tasmanian wine receiving recognition on the international stage, and he credits the “unique character” of the fruit grown at Tolpuddle for the success of their wines.
