Tassie Woman Tries To Ban Trans-Women, Men From Drag Shows

A Tassie woman who tried to BAN trans-women from her event to make it ‘easier to get a girlfriend’ has been told she can’t, with officials calling her request “a great disservice to transgender and transsexual communities”.

Launceston event organiser Jessica Hoyle wanted “to be able to discriminate against biological men on the basis of sex” at her exclusive drag king show, providing lesbians with a safe environment to meet “away from the eyes of biological men.”

Hoyles has had her request refused by both the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner and the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, but says she is willing to take her battle all the way to the High Court – raising over $4000 for legal fees from her supporters online.
