A 14-year-old boy has been charged over a string of alleged assaults in Hobart’s CBD on Saturday night that left several people injured.

Police allege the teenager attacked multiple strangers over a period of around three hours in the city centre on the evening of April 18 and into the early hours of April 19.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place across several locations, including the Elizabeth Street Bus Mall, Davey Street, Despard Street and Argyle Street.

The boy, from Collinsvale, was arrested on Sunday and detained to appear in court.

Police say he has been charged with assault, unlawful possession of a dangerous item in a public place and public order offences.

“Police allege over the course of about three hours, several people not known to the alleged offender were assaulted in the CBD and received non life-threatening injuries,” a spokesperson said.

“Police are aware there may be several victims yet to be identified and encourage any victims and/or witnesses to these alleged assault matters to come forward.”
