A 13-year-old boy has been airlifted to Hobart with serious injuries following a motorbike crash on an east coast fire trail.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, prompted a police investigation after Ambulance Tasmania notified authorities around 11:30am about the injured youth.
Police believe the teenager was riding with family members when he came off his bike while riding the fire trail.
Despite his injuries, the boy managed to ride back to Chain of Lagoons, where emergency services arranged for him to be airlifted to Hobart.

Medical personnel have described his injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
The incident has prompted police to issue a reminder about legal requirements for those using fire trails and forest roads.

“Members of the public are reminded that fire trails and forest roads are public streets and drivers must be licensed and using registered vehicles,” a police spokesperson said.
“The road rules apply on these roads as they do on any other.”
Police are continuing their investigation and have called for witnesses to come forward.
“Anyone with information about the incident should contact St Helens Police on 131444,” the spokesperson added.
