A stunt involving a person allegedly surfing atop a Metro bus with a drink in-hand has landed a man in hot water with police.
The 24-year-old was spotted riding on the roof of a moving bus in New Town at approximately 6:50pm yesterday.
A person, understood to be the same man, was later spotted continuing the dangerous journey atop another bus along Liverpool Street near the Railway Roundabout.
Police have confirmed they have identified a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident and will proceed against him. Police initially reported the alleged offender was a youth, which they have since confirmed is incorrect.

Acting Inspector Danny Jackson condemned the behaviour, saying the man’s actions are unacceptable.
“This behaviour posed a significant risk to the individual as well as other members of the public,” Jackson told Pulse.

The state-owned bus operator has acknowledged the incident, but did not confirm whether the driver was aware of the rooftop passenger at the time.
“Metro is aware of the incident and has referred it to Tasmania Police for investigation,” a Metro spokesperson said.
