A person, understood to be the same youth, was later spotted continuing the dangerous journey atop another bus along Liverpool Street near the Railway Roundabout.

Police have confirmed they have identified and “spoken” with a youth believed to be responsible for the incident, who will now face proceedings under the Youth Justice Act.

Acting Inspector Danny Jackson condemned the behaviour, saying the youth’s actions are unacceptable.

“This behaviour posed a significant risk to the individual as well as other members of the public,” Jackson told Pulse.

The state-owned bus operator has acknowledged the incident, but did not confirm whether the driver was aware of the rooftop passenger at the time.

“Metro is aware of the incident and has referred it to Tasmania Police for investigation,” a Metro spokesperson said.
