A teenager has been charged with manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm following a fatal crash in Hobart’s CBD last year.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Bathurst Street and the Brooker Highway in the early hours of July 21, 2024.
It claimed the life of 18-year-old Riley Braslin.
Following what police called an “extensive investigation”, a 19-year-old man from Plenty was arrested this week.

He is due to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court on May 28.
Three other people were seriously injured in the crash, including the accused, a passenger and a man in another car.

All survived with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
At the time of the incident, Acting Inspector Jason Klug indicated that preliminary investigations suggested a ute involved in the crash may have run a red light.
Police investigations also focused on factors including speed, alcohol and seatbelt use.
