A teenage boy has died in hospital after a head-on crash between an off-road motorbike and a motorised push bike in Bridgewater last week.
The 19-year-old was riding along Killarney Road around 7:25pm on Friday when the collision between the two bikes occurred.
He was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries this week.
The rider of the motorised push bike sustained only minor injuries.
Acting Inspector Renee Oates said on Saturday that the young man was believed to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
She added that the manner in which the bikes were being ridden would form a key part of the investigation.
The death is the 29th fatality to be recorded on Tasmanian roads this year.
“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of all involved,” police said.
“The crash investigation is ongoing and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
