Teens charged with stealing bows from archery club and firing them in Burnie

Police have charged two youths following a burglary at an archery club in Romaine that led to stolen bows being used to fire arrows around Burnie.

The break-in occurred on March 29 at the Romaine Archery Club, with police alleging the offenders then used the stolen compound bows to shoot “a large quantity of arrows” around the Shorewell Park and Romaine areas.

Officers have since recovered the stolen bows and arrows as part of their ongoing investigation.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with burglary and stealing.

A 13-year-old has faced more serious charges including burglary, stealing, having a dangerous article in a public place and resisting police.

Police are appealing for anyone affected by the arrow-firing incidents or with information about the matter to come forward.
