Telstra customers in Latrobe and Sassafras could lose mobile coverage for up to six days this week as the telco switches off a base station for upgrades.
The site will be shut down during daylight hours from today until Friday, April 17.
It will also go offline for up to four hours on Saturday, April 18.
Telstra says the work will improve 4G and 5G capacity, delivering “faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion”.
The upgrades will cause temporary disruptions for mobile users in the area.

Regional general manager Michael Patterson said downtime would be minimised where possible.
“While disruption is required while the upgrade is underway, we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible,” he said.
Customers will receive text messages about the planned outages.
Landlines, NBN, satellite internet and other mobile providers will not be affected, Telstra said.
Triple Zero (000) calls from Telstra mobiles will automatically connect to another available network if needed.
