The weather is continuing to heat up across Tasmania, with a top temp of 30 degrees recorded at Scott’s Peak in the state’s far south at 2pm today.

It’s welcome news for the thousands of Tasmanians heading to the Haydays Festival and the Taste of Summer in Hobart today, with temperatures already exceeding the forecast maximum in areas across the state.

The BOM say Launceston is sitting around 29 degrees at the moment, while 27 degrees is being felt on the North-West Coast.

Meanwhile thunderstorms, hail and heavy rainfall are all possible across much of Tasmania’s north this afternoon, as a severe weather front moves across the state.

The North and North East areas, including Launceston, are expected to be impacted early on Wednesday afternoon.
