Thousands of Harley-Davidson riders across Australia and New Zealand will hit the road on Saturday, September 12, with Tasmania’s United We Ride event departing from Prospect Vale, south of Launceston.
Richardson’s Harley-Davidson, the state’s only authorised Harley-Davidson dealership, will host the ride for the second year running.
Riders will gather at the Westbury Road dealership before stands go up at 11am sharp, in sync with departures across both countries.
The event raises funds for The Salvation Army, the official charity partner of United We Ride.
“This is what the Harley-Davidson community is all about – coming together, supporting one another and lending a hand when it is needed,” a Richardson’s Harley-Davidson spokesperson said.
“To know that riders across Australia and New Zealand will be starting their engines at the same time creates an incredible sense of unity.”
Local Salvation Army representatives will be on site cooking a fundraising barbecue, with riders and non-riders alike welcome to come along and support the cause.
After a group ride, participants will return to the dealership for specials and celebrations.
The dealership is also rallying support for local rider Rayleen Glover, co-founder of Women on Wheels Tasmania, who has already raised more than $7,500 and is aiming to crack $10,000.
Her goal is to become Australia’s top United We Ride fundraiser.
“Rayleen gives an incredible amount of her time and energy to Tasmania’s riding community and now we want Tasmania to get behind her,” the spokesperson said.
“Every donation, large or small, will help support the essential work of The Salvation Army.”
Funds raised will go towards programs including emergency relief, housing and homelessness services, addiction support, family and domestic violence services and youth programs.
