Three men charged after homemade firearms seized in Launceston raids

Taskforce Raven has charged three men and seized two homemade firearms during raids on homes in the Launceston suburbs of Waverley and St Leonards on Tuesday.

A 25-year-old St Leonards man and a 22-year-old Waverley man were arrested during a search at a Waverley home, where police allegedly found ammunition and illicit substances.

Both men were charged with multiple offences, including firearms and family violence charges.

A 29-year-old Waverley man was also arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

A second search, at a St Leonards home, uncovered a loaded homemade pistol, a homemade double-barrel shotgun, ammunition, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and power tools believed to have been stolen.

The 25-year-old was charged over the second haul and remanded to appear in court on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old was also remanded to appear in court, while the 29-year-old is due to face court in August.
