A shark has reportedly been spotted in the water near a popular beach south of Hobart this morning, prompting authorities to issue a community warning.
Police say swimmers and people considering venturing into the water at Snug Beach should to be aware of a three-metre long shark.
The sighting occurred approximately 50 metres offshore on Sunday, as early morning swimmers enjoyed the long weekend.
Shark sightings are not uncommon in Tasmanian waters, with the state home to a diverse range of marine life and several species of sharks.
Anyone with additional shark sightings should report them to police on 131 444.
