‘Thunderstorm activity’ and heavy rain is on the way for much of Tasmania this afternoon, authorities are warning.
The State Emergency Service (SES) say up to 30mm of rain is possible across the afternoon, with potential for higher rainfall and thunderstorm activity in the north-west of the state.
“Please be prepared and keep informed of changing conditions. Tasmania SES is preparing for the weather, and we encourage the community to do the same,” they say.
Tasmania Police have echoed the warning and urged drivers to “be safe on the roads”.
“It’s better to arrive a little late than not at all.”

“Reduce your speed and maintain a safe following distance. Slippery roads can increase braking distances, so be prepared.”
“Ensure your headlights are on, even during daylight hours, for better visibility. It helps other drivers see you as well.”
