Toilets back at Tassie school after ‘extreme measures’ saw them removed

Students are hoping to return to New Norfolk High School to toilets and lockable doors today after the school backflipped on their decision to remove them at the start of the term.

The ‘extreme measures’ were taken to reportedly stop students ‘vaping and smoking’ in the loos – a move parents say was a breach of basic human rights.

A photo of contractors seen at the school on Saturday was shared by the Derwent Valley Mayor with the caption “the toilets at our local school are being reinstalled.”

She thanked local parents and the community for “coming together to stand up for our kids”.

It’s not known if the toilets are fully operational yet.
