Annual visitor spending in Tasmania has exceeded $3 billion for the first time in a “remarkable rebound” following the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the latest Tasmanian Visitor Survey, total spending for the 12 months ending October 2022 was $3.1 billion, a 23% increase from the previous year’s $2.54 billion.
There were 1.058 million visitors, with an average spend per visitor of $2,952, a 56% increase from the previous year.

The average spend per night was $300, a 27% increase from the previous year, and the average stay was 9.8 nights.
The survey comes as Tourism Council Tasmania CEO Luke Martin warns against complacency, stressing the need for the industry to develop new visitor experiences and infrastructure.
