Traffic chaos across Hobart CBD after power outage; 1,000+ without power

Over 1,000 properties across West Hobart are without power this evening following a widespread outage.

Several traffic lights in the Hobart CBD are out as a result, with motorists being urged to be mindful of other road users and to drive safely.

TasNetworks are racing to confirm the cause and have indicated that power is not expected to be restored before 6:30pm.
