Hobart has been thrown into gridlock ahead of peak hour after multiple individual crashes on the Southern Outlet.

Southbound lanes of the busy link between the city and Kingston first came to a halt around 4pm after an incident involving a Metro bus south of Mount Nelson.

Although that was quickly cleared, a separate crash between a car and a motorcycle just past Olinda Grove blocked one lane.

The motorcyclist has been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital by ambulance with injuries.

Police then reported another crash involving four cars, blocking both southbound lanes of the outlet.

“At this stage no life threatening injuries have been reported,” police said for all three incidents.

“Motorists should delay their travel if possible.”

Maps data shows traffic at a standstill from Mount Nelson, through the city on Davey Street and back to the Tasman Highway.
