Waist-deep snow and strong winds are continuing to hamper desperate efforts to find a missing bushwalker who vanished in Tasmania’s Mt Field National Park a week ago.
Daryl Fong, 30, has not been seen or heard from since approximately 3am last Sunday.
He had made contact with a friend indicating he had become delayed on a day hike and planned to seek shelter overnight.
A personal locator beacon he is believed to have been carrying has not been activated.

Search and rescue teams deployed a police vertical rescue unit to Tarn Shelf by helicopter on Saturday, alongside specialist search equipment.
But Sunday’s efforts have been severely restricted by dangerous alpine conditions.

“Search personnel remain committed to finding Daryl but with the passing of time and the conditions in the area, serious concerns are held for his welfare,” police said.
The conditions have also prompted police to issue a public warning urging people to reconsider non-essential outdoor activities.
“These sorts of weather conditions impact our ability to conduct search and rescue response, with high winds preventing helicopter operations,” they said.
Police have specifically asked people to reconsider activities including boating and hiking.
“Please … make choices that prioritise your safety and the safety of others,” police said.
