Fire crews have rushed to contain a blaze that tore through a truck on the Lyell Highway during the morning rush hour today.
Traffic was disrupted around the Tynwald Park area of New Norfolk between 6:30am and 8am on Tuesday as authorities worked to control the situation, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby bushes.
Fire investigations were completed by midday, with the blaze deemed accidental.
According to a Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson, the truck suffered approximately $80,000 in damages as a result of the fire.

The fire forced passengers on School & general access buses operated by Kinetic to find alternative routes, with the bus company apologising on social media for any inconvenience.
“[Buses] are currently being diverted near the Juntion Motel via Hobart Rd and The Avenue due to a truck on fire and road closure. Some bus stops may not be serviced,” they said.
Police are now working to clear the scene.
