Two Tasmanian men have been charged with trafficking illicit drugs after police intercepted ‘several parcels’ from interstate containing 1kg of methylamphetamine and prescription drugs.
Police say that as part of an investigation into the packages, officers searched a house yesterday and arrested the two Kings Meadows men.
During the search, police also found a large quantity of power tools believed to have been stolen during a series of recent burglaries across Launceston.
Detective Acting Inspector Andrew Hanson said Tasmania Police will continue to target anyone involved in the manufacture or distribution of illicit substances.
“The drugs seized by the police yesterday are highly addictive and have the potential to cause significant harm to nearly 15,000 people in our community through individual street deals,” he said.
A 37-year-old man was bailed to appear in court at a later date, while a 31-year-old man was detained to appear in court this morning at 11:30am.
