Tyler Richardson’s catchy new song for Tassie guide dogs

Tasmanians are being reminded not to interfere with working dogs while they are on the job this International Guide Dog Day.

To raise awareness about the pup’s legal rights, local singer Tyler Richardson has composed a fun and catchy jingle that delivers an essential message.

The jingle serves to help clear up any confusion with some members of the public who may not be aware of where guide dogs can legally go.

Richardson, who is the lead singer of the band Luca Brasi, said he sat down and tried to write it from the dog’s perspective of what they actually might want to be.

“I just thought, what do we need to talk to people about, what do they need to know?”

His passion for composing the jingle stemmed from his experiences as a teacher who worked with a lot of visually impaired children who need access rights that people often don’t seem to understand.

The song is available on the Guide Dogs website, along with more tips on the dog’s access rights.

Guide Dogs Tasmania currently has 28 guide dogs on duty, with five people still waiting for their own four-legged companions.

The organisation is now on the hunt for more people to help raise and train the pups.

Guide Dogs Tasmania is hoping to raise even more awareness through its online auction next month.

The auction will serve as an opportunity for people to bid on unique items, with all proceeds going towards the training and care of guide dogs in Tasmania.
