Learner driver charged after allegedly driving wrong way on Bass Highway at Burnie

A teenager has been charged with reckless driving after police allege she drove on the wrong side of the Bass Highway towards oncoming traffic.

Police allege a grey Ford Territory left a service station in Burnie around 9:30am on Monday and travelled onto the highway on the wrong side of the road.

The 18-year-old woman also faces charges of driving under the influence of an illicit substance, being an unaccompanied learner driver and drug possession-related offences.

The car has been confiscated for three months.
