An ‘unhappy camper’ has been arrested and charged after allegedly attacking a fellow camper with a knife at a campground in Tasmania’s north-west overnight.
The 54-year-old man from Forth reportedly became involved in a “verbal altercation” with 55-year-old victim while staying at the Forth Recreational Ground around 6pm on Sunday.
Following the exchange, the 54-year-old is alleged to have approached the camper while armed a knife and injured him.
Police say officers “quickly responded” and arrested the man at the scene.
“Nobody else was physically injured or threatened,” police say.
“This was an isolated incident and the two men were known to each other.”
The 54-year-old has since been charged with wounding and unlawfully possessing a dangerous article in a public place.
He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court at a later date.
