An unlicensed Kingston driver who performed burnouts in a hotel car park on Bruny Island will face prosecution after being identified through CCTV footage.
The 30-year-old visitor to the island was allegedly captured doing burnouts in the gravel car park of Hotel Bruny in Alonnah around 5pm on Monday.
Tasmania Police launched an investigation after concerned community members reported the dangerous driving behaviour.
Senior Constable Ashley Hopwood said police were able to identify the vehicle and its owner after reviewing security camera footage from the scene.

“This sort of driving behaviour is reckless and it puts innocent people at risk,” Senior Constable Hopwood said.
The driver will be prosecuted for hooning offences and driving without a licence, with police expressing disappointment at the man’s behaviour.

“Police are committed to keeping our roads as safe as possible and hoons should be warned that this type of behaviour can lead to loss of licence, vehicle confiscation, vehicle destruction and significant fines,” Senior Constable Hopwood said.
The incident comes during National Road Safety Week, which runs from May 12 to 16, highlighting the ongoing issues with dangerous driving behaviours across Tasmania.
Police have encouraged the public to report dangerous driving when they witness it.
“Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving on our roads should contact police on 131 444, or Triple-Zero (000) in an emergency,” Senior Constable Hopwood said.
“If you can’t call at the time, but you have dash cam or other footage, you can upload it to our evidence portal at police.tas.gov.au/report.”
