A young man from Beaconsfield has been slapped with various charges, including evading police and high-range drink driving, following an incident over the weekend.

The 24-year-old was allegedly riding an unregistered trail bike without a helmet on Weld Street in Beaconsfield around 5pm on Sunday when police attempted to pull him over.

A breath test revealed the man had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.189, more than four times the legal limit of 0.05.
