‘Urgent, major repairs’ force closure of Hobart rubbish dump

Hobart’s waste management centre will be closed for two weeks after after it was discovered ‘urgent repairs’ needed to be carried out at the site.

The South Hobart Tip is in need of “major repairs” on its toll booth and weigh bridge, as well as other essential maintenance, according to the City of Hobart.

The tip will stay closed until August 4, while the Tip Shop will remain open as usual.

Hobart residents can still dispose of garden waste at the tip during this period.

Alternative waste disposal options are available at Glenorchy’s Jackson Street Waste Management Centre, Mornington Park Waste Transfer Station and Kingborough’s Barretta Waste Transfer Station.
