Police said the driver allegedly “accelerated away” to avoid officers.

The vehicle was found a short time later at a home, where the 36-year-old man was arrested.

A search of the ute allegedly uncovered six grams of methylamphetamine in clip-seal bags, along with other drug-related items.

The man is now facing charges including evading police and possession of a controlled drug.

He will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police said the ute has been seized “indefinitely”.
