Over $27,000 worth of stolen property, including a wide variety of tools and bicycles, has been recovered from a Launceston home by a specialist police taskforce.
Officers on the Viper Taskforce successfully retrieved the goods during a search of a home in the northern suburbs on Monday, with a majority of the stolen property now returned to its rightful owners.
A 35-year-old Mayfield man has been charged with burglary, theft and possession of stolen property in connection with these thefts.
Detective Acting Inspector Aleena Crack said 33 people had been charged with more than 182 separate offences since Taskforce Viper was re-established in late December.
“This taskforce is designed to target known recidivist offenders, and the proactive work of our taskforce members has resulted in a significant number of charges,” she said.
“We know recidivist offenders may be responsible for multiple offences, and our aim is to reduce that high volume offending.”
